Today Tzutzu and I went to Turda, a town close to Cluj, for our first official assignment as Alumni of AIESEC. We had a talk with the high school students from the town about what makes you better than the average student.
Both tzutzu and I were really relaxed, doing this as it was something we usually do. Of course we promoted AIESEC as the heaven on students’ earth. It’s weird to see people from small towns getting to know about AIESEC long before they go to college, asking questions about AIESEC XP like it was biology.
As for me, they reminded me about the younger Ştefan, the one having 24 crazy hours each day in the high school and taking for granted everything coming to my way. Basketball team, volleyball team, football championships, playing the guitar, first aid contests, subjects’ Olympics, having fun with friends and doing so many things for the first time.
It’s good to have a dream, I realized today, it keeps you going, whether you change it or not from time to time. In high school I dreamed to be the greatest of all cybernetics experts and I was to go a long way with this target in mind. And on the way I took all the opportunities I could, exploring every day. In some years, cybernetics was long ago gone from my head as I worked my mind in so many others fields that seemed more appealing.
Talking with these guys today made me recall every year of my history. And even more, it made me think more about it. I think a random appearance in a high school from Turda can be a perfect recapturing of the ways a mind took for the last ten years of a 23 years old.
One day from now, I will be officially former president of AIESEC Cluj-Napoca. A day to look behind with the heart, to look forward with the mind. And the heart will follow.
