You never stop learning. It just becomes harder.

Recently, my life has become interesting again. JCI in Cluj is moving foward. Foreground, the career business, is taking shape. Juanito is very close to China now, so new pages will be soon opened.

As entrepreneur, the first challenges were very unpredictable for me. As part of a great team of three good friends that know what they’re doing, I was expecting the challenges to appear from the outside. And was keeping my eyes wide open for that.

Strangely, the challenges were us ourselves, three courageous people, experienced enough to make the most basic of all mistakes, so normal and common that it is never written in statistics.

AIESECers overestimate themselves, corporate people say. It’s true, I’ve always said. But not the three of us, we said.

Actually, it wasn’t that long ago when we realized that we’re not three specialized robots, with all the inner motivation needed to carry on a hard job like driving a business. When we realized that the simple things you learn from basic trainings still apply, in all circumstances of life. That a team is not the way the people align to a standard of performance, but the is the sum of the best of what its people are able to achieve. That a team is not made of copies of the manager, but of different people, who make it valuable exactly when nothing is copied. That in order to impact other people they have to understand that you care, and how you care. That if you want to have an atmosphere, you must contribute to it. That when something went wrong, you make it good, even if it was not yours. And learn from it, together. That lying to your team mates is lying to the team, and your life depends on them this way. That life’s a sum of strokes, like in the first trainings. And they only make sense if most of them are positive. That if you want to build a culture, you are a part of it. That friendship will help you only if you remember about it.

Right now, my first lesson is learned. Friendship, fun, positiveness, structure and discipline, this is the new sum of us. This is what will make us put our minds together, and our souls, and our powers. This is what will make us really own something.

This is what will let us own ourselves.
